Das Gemälde wurde nach 1945 zwar formal restituiert, aber 1947 gegen die Bewilligung zur Ausfuhr für die restliche Sammlung dem Kunsthistorischen Museum gewidmet und unter der Nummer GG 9092 inventarisiert (BDA-Archiv, Restitutionsmaterialien, K. 52-1, M. 7, Zl. 5786/47, fol. 17–29).
1999 erfolgte die Rückgabe und die Versteigerung bei Christie's, London (Lot 221).
Ein Foto des Bildes ist im Archiv des Kunsthistorischen Museums in Wien überliefert (KHM-Archiv, XV 1846).
